Paypal now legally allowed in Nigeria

In the past years, some of us have been deprived of paying for one thing or the other on the Internet due to the fact that the only payment processor accepted for that service is Paypal.

This might have cost many of us some delays and must have circumvented a way to either open a Paypal account through the back door or used some other service providers with a wider ranges of payment otion. Many of us have even paid to get a verified paypal account or paid to get some materials teaching you how to open and verify an account.

Be of good cheers, Paypal is now LEGALLY accepted in Nigeria.

For those who do not know, Paypal is one of the largest online payment processors which can be used to make payment and accept payment (good for Internet Business owners).

I know someone is saying Hurray!!! right now because it's like a dream come true.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
This simply means that you can make payment, accept payment and even make withdrawals from anywhere in the world.

Now I bet your question is:

HOW DO I REGISTER?

Do not worry, in the next few minutes I will be taking you through how to register a paypal account. But before you register, you need to make a decision on what type of paypal account you need. The image below can guide you on that. The two most common are Individual and Business.

For the simplicity of this page, I would only go through the Personal Account registration steps:

Step 1:
Go to www.paypal.com. This might redirect to https://www.paypal.com/ng/webapps/mpp/home, that is fine.

Step 2:
Click on the sign up button.

Step 3:
Select an account type (I am selecting Individual account for the purpose of this)

Step 4:
Fill up your information correctly and click on the "Agree and Create Account" button at the bottom of the page.
NOTE: You can choose to link your credit card (ATM Card) to your account on this same registration page.

Step 5:
Answer Security Question and click Continue
If you did not supply you credit card details, they will suggest again that you do that. You can still decide not to if you don't want to. Just click on the "go to my account" link.

Now you are legally registered and ready to explore the power of Paypal service.

I would giving information on verification, receiving payment and some other important ways to maximize the advantage (NOT ILLEGALLY... lol) of Paypal in Nigeria.

Let me know if you have any questions, suggestions or things you want know about how to use this.

[Updated] Paypal still has limitations to the newly added countries namely:

  1. Inability to add local bank account
  2. Inability to accept online payment
  3. Inability to withdraw.

Looking at all these, I guess they only gave us ability to use their service to pay online. Some people see this as a good improvement while others are disapointed. Which category are you?
